The weather turned cool, but the competition was hot on the day of our fall road rally. Twenty-six participants gathered at a local supermarket parking lot in the morning. This was not a race, but rather a time-and-distance measured drive. Normal driving and adherence to all traffic laws was a must. The clues were written in rhyme by the creator of the rally with the help of A.I. The closest team to match the rally master’s time and answered questions about landmarks along the route was declared winner at the end of our drive across the countryside. Each team had a “panic” envelope disclosing the final destination which was a restaurant where we enjoyed lunch. The drive took us to the shores of Lake Ontario. Just a few teams needed to open their envelopes. Everyone agreed that the two members, Jeff Gaffney and Mike D'Ambrosio who were in charge of creating the rally had done a terrific job.
